The Department of Legal Studies will host for the fourth time a summer course on Constitution-building in Africa between July 11 and 22, 2016 in the framework of CEU's SUN program, in cooperation with International IDEA, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and the Centre for Global Cooperation Research.

The course directors are Markus Böckenförde, Gedion T. Hessebon and Renata Uitz. The distinguished resource faculty of the course is expected to include Yash Ghai and Jill Cottrell (through video link), as well as Horaca S. Adjolohoun, Babacar Kanté, Omar Hammady and H. Kwasi Prempeh.

The two-week research course intends to tackle complex societal, political and legal problems in constitution-building from an interdisciplinary perspective, informed by field experience.

The program of the course is designed to be a forum for exchange and mutual learning for young scholars and practitioners from the civil sector, from public administration, from regional and international institutions.
