Our Department is proud of yet another major achievement of our alumni: the establishment and successful running of the Georgian Association of Arbitrators (GAA). The GAA is a private initiative, non-profit association of arbitration professionals in Georgia. During the ten years of its existence, GAA has vastly contributed in development arbitration law and practice in Georgia. This has been achieved by initiating legislative amendments, developing arbitrators’ code of ethics, launching arbitrators’ accreditation program, conducting moot courts and creating training resources for students and practitioners.

One of the key directions of GAA is to promote use of arbitration in resolution of commercial disputes. Association has engaged business community and professionals to improve the attractiveness of arbitration for business. Among many CEU graduates who are members of the Association, we should particularly mention Sophie Tkemaladze (2005/2006), who has acted as Chair for four years, Giorgi Kekenadze (2015/2016), board member for two years and Jaba Gvelebiani (2012/2013) – board member for four years and Chair for the two.
