May 4, 2021

The conference papers of five CEU speakers at the online international conference ‘The Protection of the Collective Interests of Consumers,’ organized by the University UNION, Belgrade (Serbia), on 24th October 2020, has just been published in a collection of works (ZBORNIK), edited by Prof. Katarina Ivančević (host of the conference).

While Williams Chima Iheme (LL.M. and S.J.D. from CEU, now faculty of the Indian Jindal University) focused on ‘Rethinking the Effectiveness of Consumer Protection Policies and Measures in the Financial Marketplace,Virág Blazsek (LL.M. and S.J.D. from CEU) wrote about ‘Financial Consumer Protection in the U.S. and the E.U.: A Preventive Building Block of Banking Bailout Law.’

Two of our recent IBL master’s program graduates (AY 2019/2020) have joined with two related topics: Ágnes Horváth with a paper on ’Protection of Consumers Provided in the Proposal for a Regulation of Markets in Crypto-Assets,’ and Esther Angonemi Ebimoghan with a topic linked to her post-CEU work with the NGO ’Afford’ (United Kingdom): ’Financial Inclusion through Innovations – Improving Consumer Protection in Digital Financial Services.’

Multi-Level Market and Pyramid Schemes,’ written about by Prof. Tibor Tajti (alumni and faculty of CEU), was chosen upon request of the organizers as a topic that is largely new in Serbia.

Each of the papers can be downloaded from the Researchgate page of the authors.
