From 25-27 September 2019 Professor Judit Sándor and SJD Candidate Mirko Dukovic participated in the 7th Conference of the European Association of Health Law in Toulouse, France. The conference, which this year addressed the topic of “Innovation and Healthcare: New Challenges for Europe,” was organized under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr Thorbjørn Jagland.
Professor Sándor gave one of the keynote presentations at the opening of the conference, speaking on the topic “Human Genome Editing: What Are the Legal Implications for Europe and for the World?”
Mirko Dukovic presented his research paper on “New Technologies in the Courtroom: Can Justice Keep Up with Biotechnological Advancements?” as part of the PhD and young scientists seminar.
As a result of their participation in the Conference, Professor Sándor and Mr Dukovic have agreed to participate in a working group for the European Health Law Initiative with the aim of defining the scope of innovation, technology and bioethics in the growing discipline of European health law. The working group seeks to set up a network of scientists and researchers who can contribute to European health law scholarship through the means of joint projects, interdisciplinary research, graduate and postgraduate research programs, and joint publications.
