The UK House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee’s report ‘“Media freedom is under attack”: the FCO’s defence of an endangered liberty’ cites and references in numerous places the submission of Sejal Parmar (Assistant Professor of Law at the Department of Legal Studies, core faculty member of the Center for Media, Data and Society and Visiting Professor at the School of Public Policy) to the committee’s inquiry into “The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and global media freedom”. In its report, which was published on 9 September, the committee calls on the UK to “shame and punish in a consistent manner those who violate media freedom” and makes ten recommendations to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to this end.
