The book of our Alumnus, Sanford U. Mba has recently been published by Springer. The over 300-page book is titled “New Financing for Distressed Businesses in the Context of Business Restructuring Law”. The book draws from his doctoral dissertation which borders key business law areas of corporate insolvency (bankruptcy) law and the legal aspects of corporate finance in the context of distressed borrowing.
Masterfully combining theory and practice, the book addresses topical legislative and policy considerations that influence the creation of incentives for new lending, overreach by providers of new financing and the distressed debt market as an important player in the financing and overall successful restructuring of distressed businesses. The book compares the law and practice in the US, UK and Germany with key lessons for frontier markets like Nigeria.
The book comes highly recommended for legal practitioners, academics, policymakers, law reform experts and everyone with an interest in the law and practice of new financing for distressed businesses in the context.
Sanford was a doctoral candidate in the International Business Law stream. He is currently engaged as a Senior Counsel in the Corporate and Commercial practice group of ACAS-Law, a leading Nigerian law firm which enjoys global ranking.
