SJD Candidates Albana Karapanço and Ioana Stupariu participated as speakers at Central European Internet Governance Forum 2017

Second year SJD candidate Albana Karapanço and third year SJD candidate Ioana Stupariu participated as Panelists at the Central European Internet Governance Forum 2017. The event took place on the 21st of November at the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw, Poland. The annual event is organized by the Internet Governance Poland and, for the first time this year, the conference added a regional dimension by involving as co-organizers stakeholders from the Central European region.

Twelve different panels discussed pressing matters related to digitalization, with the main focus being on the digital data-based economy, 5G networks, FinTech and digital skills. The discussions were enriched by the perspectives of representatives from public administration, business, civil society, and science and technical organizations.

Albana Karapanço spoke on the panel “Digital transformation of services over a decentralized Internet: the case of financial services and new technologies,” which was organized by Hírközlési és Informatikai Tudományos Egyesület (Scientific Association for Infocommunications Hungary). She discussed the effect of digitalization on the finance sector, particularly with regards to access to finance for SMEs and in agriculture.

Ioana Stupariu participated in the panel “Value of e-Privacy: Implications of General Data Protection Regulation from Economic Perspective,” which was organized by DeLab, Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Warsaw. She discussed recent developments with regards to the EU legal framework for personal data and its implications for market stakeholders.
