Monsanto’s Pig: Who is next?

DOCUMENTARY SCREENING | ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

Friday, March 9th, 2018, 1.30 p.m.

Taking a clue from the famous Monsanto’s attempt to patent a pig, we will try to understand what we can expect in the future by multinational companies in this particular sector. Crucial questions will be addressed in simple terms, relying on concrete real scenarios:

- How do companies see and use patents?

- What are their effects in local and global economies?

- Where do the boundaries between what is patentable and what is not patentable lie? Is this a sustainable distinction?

The discussion is open to anyone interested and we invite students and faculty from all Departments to bring their own perspective, regardless of disciplinary background.
