IBL students participated in workshop on the practical aspects of the legal profession

April 24, 2017

On April 22, two international firms, OPL Attorneys (law firm) and ExplicoTech (consultancy) welcomed students from the International Business Law LLM and SJD at their premises, for a 3-hour long event aimed at contributing to their professional development, co-organized with the Legal Studies Department.

The speakers, experienced lawyers and analysts, introduced the students into the practical aspects of legal profession and answered their questions, covering topics such as the outlook of the current European legal market, with emphasis on the CEE region, or the future of the legal profession in 5-10 years, taking into account the high rate of digitalization. Amongst the speakers was local attorney Zsófia Oláh, also a CEU IBL alumni, who spoke about the challenges faced by legal counsels and general counsels.

The lectures were followed by Q&A sessions and networking with the lawyers of the firms, allowing students to inquire about the practical experience of each lawyer. This lecture is reflective of the Department’s recent efforts to strengthen cooperation with the business sector, in an attempt to multiply professional opportunities for its students.
