CEU Vis Moot Team at the Mostar Vis Moot Training and Pre-Moot

March 6, 2017

On February 18, 2017, the CEU’s Vis Moot team participated in a Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Training held in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The training was organized by the Association ARBITRI, and sponsored by the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP), U.S. Department of Commerce, and U.S. Embassy Sarajevo. On February 19, 2017, the CEU team participated in practice rounds with three other teams at the very first Bosnian Vis premoot, which was as well held in Mostar. The premoot was organized by the ARBITRI as well, with a generous sponsoring and logistic support of NSoft (a Bosnia and Herzegovina based IT company). We are proud to announce that the premoot was a result of CEU LEGS alumni joint effort involving Stjepko Čordaš (CEO of NSoft), Yancy Cottrill (Managing Director of Business Operations at NSoft), and Patricia Živković (counsel at Babić & Partners, and one of the Vis Moot expert trainers at the event organized by the Association ARBITRI).

The team from the CEU was represented by Alexander Mzhelskiy, Radu Somlea, Tamuna Beridze, Yuliya Edlina (LL.M. IBL candidates) as participants, and Boris Praštalo and Wasiq Dar (S.J.D. IBL candidates) as coaches.

The CEU has a long tradition of participating in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition, which is known for being the world’s leading law school competition in international commercial law. Pre-Moots, like the one hosted in Mostar, serve as shot in the arm and go a long way for grooming the participants for the final competition – that is held in Vienna.

The CEU team and the coaches extend their gratitude for the logistic support provided by the CEU LEGS alumni. The CEU team and the coaches are also grateful to CEU for making the participation in Mostar pre-moot activities possible.
