Our SJD candidate Isabela Hümmelgen received the 2025 SERA-LSA dissertation research award from the Social and Economic Rights Associates, in partnership with the Law and Society Association. The grant aims at advancing research on the field of social and economic rights by supporting doctoral students. This year, Isabela is one of the grantees of the award. Isabela's research focuses on feminist legal mobilization for abortion rights in state institutions in Brazil. Her dissertation seeks to further debates on the obstacles and possibilities to advocate for human rights in a hostile environment for social movements.
