In March 2013 the CEU Vis Moot Team composed of 4 International Business law stream students: Jasmina Dzaferovic, Maryna Krasnoposlka, Tamas Kubassek and Olena Papazova under the supervision and with help of coaches Liana Kartsivadze and Alexandra Horvathova throughout the preparations, traveled to Vienna to take part in the finals of the 20th Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The CEU team competed among 290 university teams arriving from 67 countries.

A team from Legal Studies has been representing CEU at the finals in Vienna for over a decade. The CEU team has received various "honorable mentions" in previous years. Proceeding again to the finals this year, at the Awards Banquet the CEU team was among the teams awarded with an Honorable Mention for the Werner Melis Award for Best Memorandum for Respondent.

Being on a moot court team requires lots of dedication and serious commitment. While they prepare and practice for the competition, members of the team and their coaches have to comply with all the educational requirements of the department, attend classes and submit their LLM thesis. Doing research for memoranda, drafting and redrafting the arguments, as well as preparation for the oral round is not only time consuming, but is also a most rewarding professional experience.
Legal Studies Department is proud of the achievements of this year's Vis Moot team. We congratulate all members of the team, and confer special thanks for the two coaches, Liana Kartsivadze and Alexandra Horvathova for their efforts.
