Alvaro Fernandez de la Mora is Assistant Professor in Intellectual Property Law at the Department of Legal Studies. His main research interests lie at the intersection between intellectual property law and human rights, often from a comparative European-US perspective. Alvaro is particularly interested in exploring the interface between trademarks and freedom of expression as brands are evolving to become expressive artefacts in the contemporary marketplace.
Before joining CEU, Alvaro lectured at the University of Sheffield and worked as an associate lawyer at Hogan Lovells LLP’s intellectual property litigation department in Madrid.
Alvaro has earned degrees from the University of Oxford (PhD), Harvard Law School (LLM) and Universidad Pontificia Comillas de Madrid ICADE (LLB).
