Ioana Stupariu

Ioana is an S.J.D. Candidate at the Legal Department at CEU, in the International Business Law stream. Her SJD research focuses on Data protection & Privacy, Intellectual Property Law, Internet and Technology, having a special interest for the interplay between digital transformation and disruption, and law and regulation. Having worked for several years in branding and business development, Ioana is also interested in Social Media strategies, Marketing, Branding and Project Management.

As professional experience, she has worked for two years in a local law firm and has also been a Teaching Assistant at Babes-Bolyai University, in Cluj-Napoca, on Public International Law. She currently works part-time at OPL Attorneys, a law firm, and ExplicoTech, a tech and regulatory consultancy boutique, in Budapest. She is also a regular tutor in the CEU Open Learning Initiative since January 2016. She is also a collaborator of Riga Graduate School of Law and has been a Visiting Research Fellow in Beijing, at China University of Political Science and Law.

Ioana is one of the founders of, an international student-run legal publication focused on Central and Eastern Europe. She was the Managing Editor for 3 years and a coordinator of the Legal Research team, now working on the development strategy and branding of the project as President of the Board. Ioana has also done academic debate for 7 years, having reached the finals of the most important competitions in the world, such as the European Universities Debating Championship (2014) and Oxford Intervarsity (2012).
