'The Right to Employment Under the European Social Charter' conference presentation by Prof. Csilla Kollonay-Lehoczky

Under its Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Bosnia and Herzegovina has organised a Conference on 'New opportunities in the employment of young people and women in the Western Balkans'. The Conference, co-organized with the Department of the European Social Charter took place on September 17 - 18, 2015 in Sarajevo. The Conference has been an opportunity to present the protection mechanisms as prescribed in the European Social Charter as well as the impact of civil organizations on the labour market together with best practices as experienced in Western Balkan countries.

The Conference builds on the Turin process that was launched in October 2014 during the Italian Presidency of the European Union and continued in 2015. This process aims at 'renewing the political interest in social rights in Europe within the current context'.

Opening addresses were delivered by Semiha Borovac, Minister of Human Rights and Refugees, and Damir Dizdareviċ, Assistant Minister of Civil Affairs and Regis Brillat, head of the Department of Social Charter. CEU Department of Legal Studies Professor Csilla Kollonay Lehoczky, former member of the European Committee of Social Rights gave a presentation on the human rights instruments and state obligations of protecting the right to employment.
